Aonghus O Laoire qualified with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from University College Dublin (UCD) in 2009. He has spent over 15 years working in clinical practice across Ireland, developing a broad clinical skillset in both food-producing and companion animal medicine.

In 2011, he completed a Certificate in Small Animal Medicine to deepen his clinical knowledge and enhance his understanding of disease mechanisms. He has a particular interest in preventative healthcare, with a strong focus on limiting the opportunities for disease emergence and transmission across all animal populations.
In 2018, he was awarded a First Class Honours Master’s degree in Food Safety and Risk Analysis from UCD. He is deeply committed to the principles of One Health and the pivotal role of the veterinarian in promoting the health of animals, humans, and the environment.

His long-term goal is to foster collaboration among veterinarians and stakeholders across sectors, and to help develop policies and programs that optimize health outcomes through evidence-based, interdisciplinary research.
