Siân-Marie Frosini graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), University of London, in 2013. She subsequently completed a PhD: “Topical therapy in canine pyoderma: new opportunities for old molecules in an era of emerging multidrug-resistant staphylococci”, again at the RVC, with Professors Ross Bond and Anette Loeffler, finishing in October 2017. From there, Siân spent three years in a post-doctoral position as part of a global JPIAMR-funded consortium (‘PETRisk’), where she investigated the transmission dynamics of antimicrobial resistance within pet-owning households. Since 2020, Siân has become Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Clinical Microbiology at the RVC. She provides support to the diagnostic microbiology laboratory and on-site referral hospital clinicians, including sitting within the Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Control committees. Siân is a passionate researcher with a focus on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in various animal populations; she conducts clinically-focused research in companion animals but also supports wider projects investigating AMR in diverse animal populations.
Since September 2025, Siân has started an alternate-route residency, expertly supervised by Dr Flavia Zendri DipECVM (University of Liverpool), and Prof Anette Loeffler (RVC; Associate Member ECVM). She is keen to put her clinical research skills to best use within the diagnostic laboratory at the RVC, to pursue best practice in bacteriology and utilise her AMR knowledge to develop improvements to support antimicrobial stewardship in practice.”
