Aikaterini Stoikou

Resident

Aikaterini Stoikou graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2010. She later completed a Master’s degree in Quality Assurance at the Hellenic Open University in 2021. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD on the “Neuropathogenesis of Porcine Hemagglutinating Encephalomyelitis Virus in Pigs” at the University of Thessaly.

Through her 10 years of work at the veterinary microbiology laboratory of the Hellenic Army, she gained significant experience in conducting microbiological analyses of food of animal origin, water, and animal samples, primarily from military working dogs.

In 2022, Aikaterini joined the Laboratory of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she focuses on Clinical Veterinary Microbiology. Her expertise includes detecting pathogens using conventional and molecular methods, sampling, and nanopore sequencing.

In October 2024, she began her ECVM residency under the supervision of Prof. Evanthia Petridou at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
