
Angelika Auer graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna in 2004. For her doctoral thesis at the university’s cattle clinic, she examined lung lavage samples for viral respiratory pathogens. This work led her to the Institute of Virology at Vetmeduni, where she has been working since 2008.
At the Institute, Angelika is responsible for organizing the virological diagnostics laboratory, as well as teaching and research. Her duties include writing laboratory reports, establishing and validating new PCRs, managing quality control, and advising animal owners and veterinarians. She also gives lectures and tutorials, and supervises theses.
Her research projects cover a range of topics, including equine coronaviruses, rotaviruses B and C, elephant herpesviruses, canine bocaviruses, and various swine viruses. In general, Angelika possesses extensive knowledge of many viruses relevant to veterinary medicine.
