The University of Surrey is an international University with a world-class teaching and research profile and an enterprising spirit. Our research seeks to address global challenges, drive innovation, and deliver real-world impact.

Surrey provides an exceptional teaching environment to inspire and empower our students for personal and professional success. Inventive and forward thinking, our heritage shows a recurring theme of doing things differently and achieving notable results.

The School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Surrey seeks to recruit a research leader in the discipline of microbiology, with a preference for expertise in bacteriology; to build on existing strengths in veterinary microbiology; to capitalise on cross-disciplinary opportunities within the university and to further enhance the existing relationships with our key research partners.

As a research leader within the school, the appointee will also be expected to contribute to the school and faculty research strategy and further development of the school’s research culture. In addition to research leadership, they will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the school, they will showcase cutting-edge microbiology research in their teaching, and they will champion research as a career option for veterinary graduates.

This post is designed to enable a high potential academic to take the next step in their research career, supported with a start-up budget (where appropriate depending on project needs) and a funded PhD studentship.
