
Dr. Claudia Schulz graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Ludwig Maximilians University Munich, Germany, in 2008. She obtained her doctoral degree from the Institute of Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany, in 2012. At the Friedrich Loeffler Institute, Insel Riems, Germany, Dr. Schulz completed her training for the board examination as German Veterinay Specialist for Virology (2016). As of 2016, Dr. Schulz worked as postdoc and project leader at the Research Center for Emerging Infections and Zoonoses of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany, in the vectorborne disease group of the Institute of Parasitology (2016 to 2019) and in the infection biochemistry group in association with the Institute of Biochemistry and the Leibniz Institute of Virology, Hamburg (2019-2024). Since 2024, Dr. Schulz works as a senior scientist at the Infectiology and Virology, Department of Biological Sciences and Pathobiology, University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna (Vetmeduni), Austria.
Dr. Schulz has a broad background in virus diagnostic, epidemiology and experimental virology and as an expert for biosafety level 3. Her major research interest is to understand virus and immunological host factors that affect the outcome of viral infectious diseases and are crucial for the development of immunotherapeutic strategies. Since 2016, Dr. Schulz has been committed to teaching and supervision of theses of veterinary, master and PhD students in the subjects virology, biochemistry and parasitology.
