Dr. Matthias König obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany, in 1989. He joined the Federal Research Institute for Viral Diseases of Animals in Tübingen from 1989-1995 and finished his doctor thesis in 1993. Since 1995 Dr. König is working at the Institute of Virology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, of the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany, heading the diagnostic laboratory and focusing on laboratory diagnostic of viral diseases in animals and electron microscopy. He has been a member of the ECVM since 2021.
